Sample Heaters & Heating Stages
Fast and Reliable Sample Heating in UHV Environments
Heating a sample for preparation or annealing are common challenges in UHV environments.
Ferrovac provides three kinds of easy-to-mount and ready-to-use sample heating stages to cover a wide range of applications.
Listed below are those three sample heater categories, each of which contains sample heating stages that utilize a different kind of heating process.
- Boralectric Heating (PBN): Utilizes a Pyrolytic Boron Nitride heating unit to radiate the sample plate from below. Stable heating solution for applications up to ~1000°C*
- Direct Current Heating: Applies a current to the sample itself. A fast and efficient way to heat samples that can carry a current up to ~1300°C*.
- E-Beam Heating: Placing the sample plate under high voltage, to then bombard it with a beam of electrons is a high-performance technique to heat samples quickly, up to ~2000°C*.
*Note: Numbers based on internal tests. Actual max. expected temperature heavily depends on system set-up.
